A Reflective Analysis of My Design
Introduction
This design is design focuses on hidden connectors. In this analysis, I will make a reflective discussion on my design from the perspectives of a brief introduction of the design, the concept design, strengths, and limitations of the design.
Description of the Design
I completed some preliminary research for a project for which the curator and designer would be my end clients before beginning the actual design process. Through displays and relics, the effort aimed to bring to light the hidden connections that bind individuals. The client’s primary involvement in the design process involves gathering and deconstructing connections for use in the construction of new design items. Meanwhile, a collection of works with common themes will be shown. The right-hand chair or table illustrates the modern framework. Spaces inside spaces can be constructed and the functions of the spaces can be distinguished by mixing the various functional sections in a connected fashion. I made a list of various rooms the customer needed, including places to nap for short amounts of time, places to unwind, places to set up workstations and store tools, and display areas.

Concept Design
I researched a project on the theme of connectors in the pre-design phase, with the curator and designer as the client. The project focused on observing the hidden connectors in life and amplifying them through exhibitions and collectibles. The client’s main activity is to collect and dismantle the connectors and redesign or reassemble them with materials to create new design objects. Furthermore, a collection of connected pieces will be exhibited at the same time. The redesigned chair or the new structure can be seen in the furniture on the right.
Once my client’s needs were defined, I looked to connections for design elements and inspiration. I listed several types of spaces that the client required based on their needs, namely spaces for short periods of sleep, spaces for relaxation, workbenches and tool shelves, and exhibition spaces. By combining the different functional areas in a connected way, spaces within spaces are formed, and at the same time, the functions of the spaces can be differentiated.
I combined some of the advice given to me by my teacher with the type of space required. I tried several space forms and found the most suitable layout for the space using a model. Moreover, to be able to distinguish the functional areas, different colors were used. Different modular spaces, large and small, are connected in the space. There are compact frame spaces in the design plan and spaces of different sizes and openness.
For the functional areas, I decided to use openness and transparency to show the degree of privacy of the individual spaces. For example, the lounge and sleeping areas are as private as possible, using available modules on one side. The exhibition and collection areas are open, and as much space as possible for exhibitions and tool areas is placed close to the entrance, giving visitors an indirect insight into the studio’s identity and the client. The working area is in the upper left corner of the space. It is opposite the window, allowing space for reflection and using the original wall to separate the display area from the resting area.
